Inpatient Child

At Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, we specialize in acute psychiatric care for children 5 to 12 years old and adolescents 13 to 17 years old. It is our goal to help our patients stabilize through crisis management and help to develop and implement skills and techniques to assist the individual in eliminating and/or managing their symptoms. We strive to enhance the continuum of care through effective aftercare services provided by our Stepping Stones Outpatient facility and/or other providers.

We believe that it is crucial for families to be involved in the wellness of their children. We encourage families to be involved in treatment by providing information about circumstances surrounding the hospitalization and learning about the treatment and management of substance use and mental health conditions. We also work with parents in understanding patterns and dynamics that may contribute to their children’s difficulties. Including individuals such as guardians, school counselors, social workers, and others to create a well thought out treatment plan and after care is crucial in the success of any patient that we help.

We utilize a holistic approach to the overall wellbeing of our patients. Some of the therapeutic sessions include:

  • Music and Expressive Arts
  • Movement and Mindfulness
  • Recreation Activities
  • Meditation and Yoga
  • Pet Therapy
