Dr. Albert Ma
Medical Director
Dr. Ma was born in China and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He received his MD and psychiatry training from the University of Illinois and completed his child psychiatry fellowship at Rush Memorial in Chicago. Dr. Ma has worked in Bakersfield for the last 15 years in both teaching and clinical work. He has served as academic faculty at many prestigious universities including UC San Diego and UCLA and is currently a core faculty member at Kaweah Delta’s Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Ma brings his years of psychiatric experience, zeal for teaching, and desire to help others to Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital as the medical director. Dr. Ma is an avid gamer and professional photographer who enjoys spending time with his family and eating good food.
Dr. Kingwai Lui
Director, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Dr. Lui was born in Hong Kong and raised in Southern California for the majority of his life. He obtained his medical education from Western University of Health Services in Pomona, California. Dr. Lui completed his Psychiatry residency training at Kaweah Delta and his Child Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Arizona. He has been practicing in Bakersfield since he completed his training and is a core faculty member of the Kaweah Delta Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Lui has been successfully helping those at Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital with their mental health needs for the past several years and enjoys the opportunities it lends to provide these vital services to the Kern County community. Dr. Lui is a child at heart who enjoys video games and Marvel superheroes. He finds joy in a number of physical activities including weightlifting, basketball, snowboarding, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, and (last but not least) eating.
Dr. Setare Eslami
Director, Outpatient Services Psychiatry
Dr. Eslami was born in Mashhad, Iran and completed her medical degree at Mashad University of Medical Sciences. After graduating from medical school, she practiced in various areas of medicine such as family and emergency medicine. Prior to residency, she managed a research project on novelty dementia treatments at Stanford University. She then obtained her adult psychiatry residency in Visalia, California where she is now part of the faculty. She proudly serves the community of Central California with a focus on women and LGBTQ health. Dr. Eslami is the Chair of Women’s Health at the Central California Psychiatric Society. With a holistic approach to mental health, Dr. Eslami achieves healing by integrating innovative evidence-based treatments with her strength in allopathic medicine. Dr. Eslami has been providing psychiatric oversight and care to those participating in the Stepping Stone Outpatient services which is located on the property of Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.
Jacob Mazzullo
NP Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Jacob Mazzullo, NP, originates from Wichita, Kansas. Jacob faithfully served his country in the Army from 1994-2001. During that time, Jacob served as an Army Nurse from 1994-1998 and then in the Infantry from 1998-2001. Jacob earned his RN license in 2005 from Kansas Newman University and his Master in Nursing in 2018 from Walden University in Minnesota. Jacob spent a good portion of his healthcare career working for Java Psych in Los Angeles where he worked primarily with Substance Abuse clients as a suboxone-certified clinician. Jacob also spent 15 years in Critical Care as a CCRN and 2 years working as a Nursing Anesthesia. Jacob started his work in Bakersfield as a Nurse Practitioner for Psychiatric Wellness Center in 2019 and has recently started his new career journey working with Dr. Ma and his team at Arise Psychiatry. Since his start with Arise Psychiatry, Jacob has been onboarded here at Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital and enjoys being a part of a team who promotes patient-focused care. When not working, Jacob enjoys music, travel, and most importantly, spending time with his amazing 5-year-old!!
Dr. Naga Venkata Bodapati
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Dr. Bodapati completed his general psychiatry residency at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He completed child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Bodapati directs and supervises the nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) at Sunshine Behavioral Health services and their associated clinics. He provides outpatient services to patients in underserved areas of the Central California area, as well as providing services to children and adults in Virginia through telepsychiatry. Dr. Bodapati served as chief fellow during his child psychiatry training and served as medical director for underserved clinics in Kern County. Dr. Bodapati is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Bodapati is Board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Board eligible for child psychiatry. Dr. Bodapati joined Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in 2021 and specializes in providing services to the child and adolescent populations.
Dr. Said Jacob
Adult Psychiatry
Dr. Said Jacob, MD is a psychiatrist, who has over 30 years of post-residency experience in mental health. He specializes in the treatment of Depression, affective/mood disorders, Schizophrenia, Attention Deficit Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorders, Anxiety, Alcohol Dependency, Chemical Dependency, and Geriatric Disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease. He is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine as well as a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He is currently on staff on the Gero-Psychiatric Program at Glendora Community Hospital in Glendora, Ca., and is the current Associate Medical Director of all Adult Services at Aurora Charter Oak Psychiatric Hospital in Covina and also assists in helping adult patients here at Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. Dr. Jacob practices in a multiplicity of treatment settings that include inpatient, partial day, outpatient, and nursing homes.
