As an independent psychiatric hospital, Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital has partnered with community clinics, hospitals, solo practitioners and community based organizations. We rely on referrals from you and your colleagues for the continued growth, success, and services for the mental health community. Our Admitting and Intake Department is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week for your convenience and to better serve you and your patients’ needs.

Referrals made easy

Our partnership with your organization is key in providing successful patient care. It is BBHH’s goal to provide a seamless process for transition of care, ensuring patients are aware of the services planned during their case management and feel at ease with their treatment options. We guarantee our staff will contact your referred patients in a timely manner. We are here to help.

Fax the Patient Referral Form and relevant medical records to (661) 241-5587, please call to confirm if your fax has been received. Once your referral is reviewed, our Admitting and Intake Department will inform you of the outcome.

(This line operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week for emergency evaluations. In non-emergency situations, our operators will connect you to important resources.)

Response time matters: Our commitment to you

When providers fax a patient referral to (661) 241-5587, BBHH Intake coordinators will contact the patient that same day, or by following morning to coordinate care. Mental health crisis does not wait, neither do we.

Hospital Transfers

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital accepts hospital transfers, including out of county transfers. To initiate a transfer please be sure to review the following required patient information sheet to ensure a seamless transition.

Once the information is gathered, be prepared to verbally answer the questions outlined. Call the BBHH Patient Transfer Center at 877-755-4907 to ensure the information packet was received.
