On August 8th, Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital attended Dignity Health Mercy & Memorial for their first mental health resource event (Abriendo Puertas). This event focused on the Hispanic community.
We were very honored to have five minutes in front of the entire group to talk about the services we provide here at BBHH. We shared important information with the Hispanic community attendees and let them know about the resources available for mental health and medical detox here at BBHH. In addition to us, there were about 15 other organizations on hand to share their expertise and information with everyone.
In the spirit of back to school, we brought a raffle prize, a backpack full of school supplies, and we were so happy that a student from Roman Garcia School won! She was super excited when her name was called and it made her parents day too.
We look forward to participating in many more events just like this where we can get out in the community, talk about mental health and medical detox, and hopefully make someone’s day!
