Utilization Review Specialist (UR)

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Utilization Review Specialist is to review medical records and prepare clinical appeals (when appropriate) on medical necessity, level of care, length of stay, authorizations and denials for patients. The UR Specialist is responsible for contacts external case managers/managed care organizations for certification and recertification of insurance benefits throughout the patient’s stay, and assists the treatment team in understanding the insurance company’s requirements for continued stay and discharge planning. The UR Specialist is responsible for having a thorough understanding of the patient’s treatment through communication with the treatment team. The UR Specialist advocates for the patient’s access to services during treatment team meetings and through individual physician contact. The UR Specialist chairs treatment team meetings and conducts continued stay reviews as indicated.

Director of Utilization Review

Summary:

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Utilization Review responsible for overall operations and planning of the utilization management department to ensure high quality and continuity of member care and appropriate allocation of services and resources. He/she actively contributes to and monitors adherence to the hospital's utilization review plan ensuring optimal reimbursement for hospital services. Key responsibilities include working with all departments providing patient care services to monitor appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospital stays. The person in this role serves as the content expert and in-house trainer in utilization review, appeals processes and related procedures. The Director is also responsible for ensuring compliance to all Federal and State regulations/guidelines as well as internally developed policies and procedures.

Position Summary:

The Dietary Aid works with the dietician in discussing dietary requirements and develop menus and nutritional care plans.  They aide assist the cook in determining the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily meals. They also assist in the preparation and serving to the patients and staff. Before distribution, checks the special diet trays and make sure that it follows the dining guidelines.  The dietary aide is responsible for keeping a complete food supply in the kitchen. They check stock and help in obtaining them. Then the dietary aid records the data on flow sheets and other documentation. A dietary aide may also be needed to help the cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining rooms.
